DESCRIPTION

The Hertex Mombasa Wallpaper transforms the familiar warmth of grasscloth into something unexpectedly architectural. Instead of relying on printed motifs, the geometric pattern is created by changing the direction of the woven fibres themselves, allowing light to reveal the design gradually as you move through the room.

The Coconut colourway introduces a deeper, richer interpretation of the woven design. Warm medium-brown tones bring greater contrast to the directional grasscloth pattern, allowing the layered diamonds to become more apparent while still feeling beautifully restrained. The faux woven fibres retain their softly irregular tufts, preserving the relaxed character of natural grasscloth.

This colourway pairs particularly well with walnut, dark oak, leather, natural stone, woven baskets and earthy neutral interiors. It creates a room that feels grounded and inviting, with enough depth to work beautifully on all four walls without becoming heavy.

What we kept coming back to with Mombasa is how the pattern reveals itself. From across the room it reads as a beautifully woven natural surface. As the light shifts, the changing direction of each grasscloth section becomes more apparent, creating diamonds that appear through shadow rather than strong contrast.

The little irregular tufts of this faux wallpaper are one of our favourite details. They stop the design from feeling overly perfect, giving it the character of something hand-crafted rather than machine-printed.
